Abstract
Perilla (seed, leaf, oil) is a crop that is in the spotlight as it is known for its health-promoting ingredients such as antioxidant, anticancer, and dementia prevention etc. Like other field crops, in the production of perilla, mechanization is insufficient in planting, cutting, and threshing. In this study, the labor saving effect was analyzed by machanization for planting, cutting, and threshing, which depended on manpower in perilla production. In addition, by harvesting perilla with full feed combine harvester, cutting and threshing were unified, and the labor saving effect was analyzed . Three types of transplanters were used in the perilla planting test, and the work performances were 1.6, 1.7, and 1.4 h/10a, respectively. In the cutting test, two types of cutters were used, and the work performance of both types was 1.0 h/10a. For the threshing test, one type of thresher was used, and the work performance was 1.0 h/10a. For cutting and threshing perilla, company D’s 6 row full feed combine harvester was used. It was analyzed that mechanization of the whole perilla production process resulted in a 58.4% reduction in labor compared to the conventional process (The labor input time : conventional process 65.4 h/10a → mechanization process 27.2 h/10a). and cutting and threshing process by full feed combine harvester resulted in a 63.3% reduction in labor compared to the conventional process (The labor input time : conventional process 65.4 h/10a → unified cutting and threshing process 24.0 h/10a)
