Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of different wavelengths on the growth of the Cuban jute (Sida rhombifolia L.). In this experiment, plants were grown in five chambers block for avoiding the role of sunlight during the growing period. To find out the effects of wavelengths on plants, we classified the light sources into 5 groups e.g., COB LED, fullspectrum LED, W2+R1, R2+B1, and R4+B1. The length and thickness of stem, number of leaves, and leaf area of plants were calculated using the equation of ellipse in order to observe the role of wavelength on growth. The wavelengths in this study were measured using a spectrometer and the range was found from 450 nm to 660 nm. The illuminance values were also measured using a light quantity meter to observe the effects on plant growth as well. The study found that the illuminance values were maximum for COB LED light source followed by Full-spectrum LED > W2+R1 > R2+B1 > R4+B1 appear. It was also examined that the COB LED light source was the best for plant growth compared to Full-spectrum LED, W2+R1, R2+B1, R4+B1 light sources. According to the current study, it can be concluded that the COB LED light source with a full-spectrum LED is suitable for growing Cuban jute plants.
